Ways To Play

APERIS has variety of plots, themes, and NPCs, and some players might find it difficult to create a character that aligns with the plot beast that interest them most. The following aims to help players in choosing Quirks, Factions, and NPCs to interact with. This list is by no means exhaustive and aims to serve as inspiration rather than a set of instructions.

You could…

  • Play as a member of Sceau d'Or, Terra Indomita, or GRAIL.
  • Take the Science Quirk.
    • Choose a specialism related to biology, zoology, or something else that might be useful in investigating the creatures of Antarctica.
    • Choose a specialism related to environmental science, meteorology, or something else that might be useful in investigating the environs of Antarctica.
  • Take the Diving Quirk.
  • Establish a connection (whether in your backstory on the Character Creation form or in-game) with Fawkes 'Guy' Drivers or Elliot Brooks.

You could…

  • Take the Survivalism, Vehicles, Navigation or Diving Quirk.
  • Take the Well Equipped Quirk and bring something that might help you explore.
  • Establish a connection (whether in your backstory on the Character Creation form or in-game) with Elliot Brooks or 'Arthur'.

  • Take the Research or Paranormality Quirk.
  • Establish a connection (whether in your backstory on the Character Creation form or in-game) with Heide Allenbach or Sister Esther.
  • Think about your character's understanding of the world. What shaped this understanding? Which things do they accept as fundamental truths? What might it do to them to have those challenged?
